Epic Reads in St. Louis
On June 7th I went to Epic Read's author meet and greet. They had four different authors (Julie Murphy, Evelyn Skye, Joelle Charbonneau, and Kimberly McCreight) with the new and upcoming books. You got to meet them and talk with them for fifteen minutes in a circle with about seven other people. After meeting all four of them you got to get one free book and have them sign it.
If you wanted any other books, you could go buy them and have them sign each of them. You also could get pictures taken with them. The four authors were giving out free bookmarks, pens, buttons, stickers, and character photos.
During the fifteen minutes that you had with each author, you could ask them any question you would like. You could ask about the writing process, how many books they have written, about their life, or anything in general. Each of the authors were very nice and easy to talk to.
Julie Murphy wrote "Dumplin" and her new and upcoming book that was presented was "Romona Blue". You could get a Dumplin and Romona Blue pin from her. She talked about her husband, dog, and background. She struggled in her earlier years, but now she is happy with her family and her books.
Evelyn Skye just wrote "The Crown's Game" which comes before her new book, "The Crown's Fate". These books are her first to be published after a struggle of not having her previous books published. She eventually found her writing style and is proudly publishing her new duology. She talked about her previous writings and how she got her books published.
Joelle Charbonneau previously wrote the Testing trilogy and newly wrote "Dividing Eden". She plans fore more books following "Dividing Eden". She talked about the research that goes into her books. Joelle likes to research her books a lot before writing much of anything to make sure that all of her facts are correct.
Kimberly McCreight has written the Outliers series and just put her second book in the series, "The Shattering". Kimberly also talked about the research behind the book and explained how she got the idea of writing this book.
