I recently went to the American Library Association Conference in Chicago, Illinois.

If you do not know what that is; it is a convention that a bunch of publishers and authors come and showcase their upcoming books. Most of the authors that come will sign the books that are being showcased. Usually the books are not yet released. The books are to be reviewed and corrected and published at a later date.

Over the course of six days, you can meet many authors and attend different meetings that all have something to do with libraries or librarians.

I attended the conference for five days attaining over fifty books and of which eighteen are signed. The books cover many types of genre. Including mystery, comedy, fantasy and adventure, fiction, nonfiction, and romance.

The authors that I met include: Nicola Yoon, Kathleen Ernst, Christina Bauer, Leslie Budewitz, Jamie Raintree, Crystal Cestari, Sara Ella, Jamie Ford, Kaira Rouda, Fiona Davis, A. J. Finn, Tayari Jones, Shea Fontana, Chloe Benjamin, Cat Winters, Loren Long, and Neal Shusterman.

Epic Reads in St. Louis

On June 7th I went to Epic Read's author meet and greet. They had four different authors (Julie Murphy, Evelyn Skye, Joelle Charbonneau, and Kimberly McCreight) with the new and upcoming books. You got to meet them and talk with them for fifteen minutes in a circle with about seven other people. After meeting all four of them you got to get one free book and have them sign it. If you wanted any other books, you could go buy them and have them sign each of them. You also could get pictures taken with them. The four authors were giving out free bookmarks, pens, buttons, stickers, and character photos. During the fifteen minutes that you had with each author, you could ask them any question you would like.
